The church is to be like a spiritual temple and a royal priesthood to proclaim God's excellencies. What is the best way to do so? Apostle Peter's emphasis is for the whole church to live rightly: 1. ABSTAIN. We are commanded to constantly abstain or hold away the fleshly lusts- lust, greed, anger, wrath, addiction, pride etc. 2. MAINTAIN. We abstain because we want to maintain a beautiful and attractive conduct before a watching world. 3. ATTAIN. The end goal is so that God may use our testimony to lead the unsaved to find salvation in His Son. Peter is not teaching legalism but sanctification that leads to evangelism and glorification. May our church be a lighthouse for the world we live in today.
Pastor Jason emphasized that Christians are called to proclaim God's excellencies through their lives rather than just their words. He highlighted 1 Peter 2:11-12, urging believers to abstain from fleshly passions and maintain honorable conduct to attract non-believers to Christ. He explained that abstaining means holding sinful desires far away, and maintaining honorable conduct means living a life that is good, beautiful, and noble. This conduct should lead others to salvation and glorify God. Pastor Jason stressed the importance of godliness in evangelism and encouraged the congregation to live out their faith consistently.
Proclaiming God's Excellencies

• The purpose of the Church is to proclaim God's excellencies, not just through preaching but through living righteously.
• Emphasis is placed on the importance of conduct and practice over mere words and preaching.
• The key to glorifying God is for the entire church to live rightly, not just a select few.

The Day of Visitation
• The "day of visitation" can refer to either judgment or salvation.
• Peter's context suggests it is more likely related to salvation, as it leads to the husbands being won by the wives and others inquiring about the hope in believers.
• The day of visitation is a time when God visits to save and redeem, not just to judge.
• The focus is on how believers' conduct can lead to the salvation of others.
