Stand for Truth

Nebuchadnezzar was the most powerful man on Earth during his time. He was the king of a massive empire called Babylon. Although kings would normally kill the people in the lands they had conquered, Nebuchadnezzar was different. He would assemble the best of them and then re-program them into the Babylonian way. He changed their culture and made them think, feel and behave like a Babylonian.

Similarly, the Devil has been at work trying to "Babylonize" this world since humanity fell into sin. He wants to change you. He wants to put Babylon into you and I. He blinds our spiritual eyes that we may not know God and His Gospel. He pumps in lies and falsehoods blurs the lines of right and wrong, so truth becomes subjective in place of what pleases the emotions. He orchestrates the world around us to draw us away from God's word, leveraging on temptations that lead us further down the path of lies. 

James 4:7 teaches us then to, "Submit yourselves to God." Obedience to God's word is our most powerful defence against the enemy. James says too, "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Resisting the Devil's influence requires that we know the Word of truth, so we can discern his lies. May we not be "Babylonized", but be "Gospelized"! We need to pray that God will remove the blindness of those around us so they can see the truth, that they may submit to Him! And we need to pray that God's people will hold fast to God's Word so that we know falsehoods from the truth.
