Alden:
Looking back, it all began when He first placed me in a Christian kindergarten despite my family and I being non-Christians. Throughout my school life He placed people in my life according to His wondrous plan, reaching out to me despite being totally undeserving. God really opened the door when I met Priscilla, an amazing believer through unexpected circumstances. Through her, I was guided to understand His Grace, the Word and befriend other Christians.
I sincerely got a shock when I got to know one day that there were people actually praying for my salvation; praying specifically that my journey in seeking truth would result in life. The turning point came when I challenged God in prayer (would not recommend) to show me His authority, control and assurance - in which I believe He answered in the best way possible. It occurred one day when I was commuting home and notice a middle-aged woman reading her Bible. I found the sight to be rare and interesting. She was alighting when a small collision she had made her drop her Bible. I instinctively assisted to pick it up, and caught a glimpse of a highlighted verse "For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly." Romans 5:6. Upon seeing the verse, God spoke to me clearly in two ways; the first telling me of Christ's sacrificial love, and the second being God's mighty saving grace. Without a doubt, God graciously answered my prayer and since then, I am well-assured that Christ is my personal Lord and Saviour.
It has now been two and a half years since that incident and I have been wanting to be baptized but was stopped by my mother's objection. For the past six months or so, I believe the Spirit has been guiding me to obedience and to fully trust in His wonderful plans. So I am taking the step of faith to do His will, despite potentially facing strained relationships at home. However, I believe God will see me through. He has been faithful to bless and guide me from the beginning and I can trust him to the end.
