My name is Adam Tyson.  I'm a pastor in Los Angeles and I'm here to talk to you about God. Some of you might think that God is like an old man, or a grandpa who is out of time and out of power. But I’m here today to tell you God is the same yesterday, today and forever. God doesn't always give you what you want, He gives you what you need. And what we need today more than anything else is to see God for who He really is.

The prophet Isaiah saw God, and when he did, everything changed for him. Today if you really see the God of the Bible, you will recognize that God is number 1, a Holy God. In Isaiah 6:1, we read the prophet was given a vision of God, and he saw the Lord sitting on a throne high and lifted up and the train of His robe filled the temple. One queen of England had a wedding dress that stretched from the altar of the church to the backdoors. The train of His robe, is a picture of God’s majesty and beauty.

Above Him stood the Seraphim, a special class of angels which had six wings, two to cover their faces, two to cover their feet and two to fly with. The Seraphim were so amazed to be in the presence of God, they could not even look upon the glory of God. As they stood there they called out the words, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts, the whole earth is full of His glory.”

These angels could have said God is “Love, love, love” and they would have been right. They could have said, “Powerful, powerful, powerful” and they would have been right. But what they said was, “Holy, holy, holy” is the Lord God Almighty. There’s no one like Him, there’s no one like Him. I believe that as a city, as a church, as a nation we need to remember the holiness of God. The foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of God and the house was filled with smoke. If you have really seen God in the bible, you will realize that our God, our creator God, our covenant-making God is Holy. When was the last time you got on your face and fell on your knees before God and said, “God, You’re nothing like me! God You’re so holy You’re so beyond me! You’re so different from me! I want to worship You. You’re a Holy God!” If you’ve ever seen the God of the bible, you will recognize He is Holy.

But the second thing that will happen if you’ve really seen God, is that you will realize that you and I are sinners. Isaiah said, “I am a man of unclean lips and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips, for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.” The bible says that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. The bible says the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus.

God is holy and you and I are sinners. So you and I have a choice today, run from God or you can repent.
