What’s the most important day you’re looking forward to? Perhaps it’s graduating, getting married, having your first child or receiving your performance bonus. The list could be endless. But for many, the most neglected day of eternal importance is the day we stand before God in judgment.

God will judge us on our deeds (Jer. 17:10). Does this mean salvation is based on my good works? Absolutely not. Salvation is impossible via our own works. Man can be saved by the generous and unmerited grace of God alone. (Eph. 2:8-9) But what we fail to see is that a person truly saved by faith will abound in good works. These good works are the natural overflow of a redeemed life. Salvation is not by works, but true salvation results in works. And these works will be the basis of the judgment by God for salvation or damnation (Rom 2:6-8).

God will judge all mankind. But some of us will ask, "how will those who have never read the Bible be judged?" Apostle Paul reveals there is an inner sense of right and wrong inside man. God's law is written in the hearts of man (Rom. 2:14-15). Every human culture instinctively understands that it is wrong to murder, to rape, to cheat and to steal. Knowing what is right and wrong, God will not hold them guiltless when they do wrong against their conscience.

"What about those who have a Christian heritage or lineage?" you ask. God does not judge us based on our backgrounds or lineage. God does not play the favoritism card. He is not biased or partial. (Rom. 2:11) It’s not enough today to be born into a Christian home, you must be born again. it’s not enough to come to church, you must come to Christ.

At the end of time, there is no escape facing Jesus. But God did not send His Son to condemn the world but to save the world. The just shall live by faith. He who believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
