Fully Loved
Devotions with Pastor Jason Lim
When you sin as a Christian, you are not forsaken by God. In fact, He will not love you any less, He will neither curse you nor condemn you. He is fully committed to loving His own. This is the strong love of God.
Knowing the strong love of God gives you tremendous encouragement in prayer. You don't ever have to fear that you are not accepted or are despised in His presence. You can come just as you are and cry out, "Abba Father!" You can mourn over sin in repentance before Him, and you can rejoice in gladness as you receive His forgiveness. You can boldly declare, "Lord, thank You for hearing me because of your Son."
Knowing the love of God radically changes the way we treat one another. As the church, we can reflect the unconditional love of the Father. 1 John 4:11 reads, "Beloved, if God so loved us this way, we also ought to love one another." The love of God, when it overwhelms your heart, spills over into how we treat one another. We learn to be vessels filled and overflowing with the love of God for others.
Finally, knowing the love of God inspires and motivates us to live fully for Him. Your obedience to God today is motivated by His amazing love for you. As John said, "We love because He first loved us." (1 John 4:19). May you continue to soak in this transformational love of God in the gospel for you, and may this change your life for His glory!
