My Personal Saviour

My Personal Saviour
Devotions with Pastor Jason Lim

We inherit many things from our parents - from our looks, and our intelligence, to even material assets. However, salvation cannot be inherited from our parents or ancestors. Our salvation is something very personal and it is uniquely between God and us. The Bible says in 1 John 5:12, "He that has the Son has life and he that has not the Son of God, has not life." It does not matter whether you are a regular church attendee, or whether your name is on some church membership roll. The key is if you have Jesus Christ as described in 1John 5:12. Do you have a personal relationship with Him?

Joining activities and programs in a church alone does not make you saved. Being born and raised in a Christian home alone does not make you saved. Being a citizen in a "Christian nation" alone does not automatically make you saved. It is very clear in 1 John 5:12 - He that hath the Son has life, and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. The real question again is, "Do you have Christ in your life?"

So salvation is not found in your race; it is found in grace. It is found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Salvation is a personal matter. It is well noted that the Bible does not say God has grandchildren. He calls His people His children, meaning that we are all to have a direct and personal relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. And so, the believer can rejoice and say, "Jesus died for me. He is my Saviour, my personal Saviour!"
