This morning we are back to our Sunday services, we are back to our usual preaching series and we are going through the book of Hebrews once more, and we are looking today at Hebrews chapter 9 so if you have your Bibles, you can turn to Hebrews chapter 9.

Congratulations, we are now at about the 75th percentile mark, another 25 percent more and we would probably be done.

So Hebrews chapter 9 and the I'm going to talk a little about something that is rather unpleasant. I know this is the festive holidays, but the book of Hebrews today presents to us a very unpleasant topic, because it talks about the problem of guilt.

Guilt is a very unpleasant feeling, isn't it? Nobody likes to feel guilty, ashamed, dirty. Nobody likes to feel like they've done something really wrong, but that's guilt! And it’s a feeling all of us have experienced before in our lives.

Maybe as a teenager you have had an abortion because of premarital sex and you have been feeling guilty for that for a long while. Maybe you are guilty today because you have cheated on your wife or your spouse and you've have had an affair or maybe you're feeling guilty today because you realize you have neglected your children for many years or maybe you feel guilty today because you have played sin against God and you know that's wrong.

Guilt is one of the torments and tortures of the human soul.  It is. I tried to Google a little bit about guilt. So I keyed in those words “tormented by” and I was going to follow up with “guilt” when Google is so smart, it gave me auto-suggestions. You know how it is right? You key something in and they suggest to you what you should search for and so I keyed “tormented by” and look at the key torments in human world today.

At least on cyberspace, tormented by demons, tormented by the past and number three, tormented by guilt. In other words, guilt is a very common and a very significant pain in our lives; it's a big problem!

In fact, Coco Chanel, you know Coco Chanel, all the ladies say, “yes.” The guys, “what Coco, what Coco crunch.” Now who is Coco Chanel?  Well, she is a famous fashionista, I suppose, and Coco Chanel she said, “guilt is perhaps the most painful companion of death.”

Death is so painful because of the guilt that we have to live with till we die. Maybe today you have that sense of guilt and when it is quiet at night and when you are on your own, you think about all the mistakes you have made in your life and you are stricken with guilt. You are ashamed of yourself; you are ashamed to face God.

This is a picture of a handsome young man, when I was 20, ah no no, that is not me.  This is Hayden Kho, I'm not sure if you recognize him, but some of you may, because he's a Filipino Chinese, he's a doctor, very famous one at that. He's a doctor, he is a model, he is an actor, he is a businessman. I mean, life is good for Hayden Kho - young, promising, the star of Philippines as it were. He had everything in life - success, fame, money. Deals coming in.

But one day his life came to screeching halt. Everything seemed to collapse all around him. You say, “why.” Because his friends betrayed him, and took some of his sex scandal videos and circulated it on Internet. The whole of Philippines was rocked with this news and he became the prime figure or character in national TV because he was tried publicly on national TV for his sexual crimes.

In fact, he was voted the most hated man of Philippines. Imagine that! So overnight, he lost everything. He lost his medical license. He was put on trial on national TV for a long, long while.  And he really suffered, his life totally collapsed all around him and he said, “I'm living with pain, shame and guilt, what meaning can I find in life?”

He was so depressed, he was so discouraged that he took to drugs for seven years and he attempted to kill himself twice during that period.

Guilt is a torment of the human soul. You say, “How does guilt come about? Why is there guilt in the human life.”  Well, it, it all began, it all started when Adam and Eve sinned against God. They rebelled against God, they took of the fruit that they shouldn't have taken, and ever since then, they knew that they were unclean, they were dirty, they were naked and they knew it, they were ashamed of it and so they started to hide from God. They were cast out of the garden, they were living in guilt and shame and ever since then, humankind, all of us, we who have sinned will have this sense of guilt. This is the effect of sin.

Can I, can you be ever healed from guilt? Can we be cured?

Enter the Bible, enter the Bible that speaks about God's grace. God's word that speaks about God's grace found in Jesus Christ, God's Son. Really, that's the message of Christmas, that God's son is born into this world to save us from our sins, not just the penalty of sin, not just the power or the control of sin but also the guilt, the defiling stain of sin upon our conscience.
Jesus Christ came to save us and to give us clean conscience.

THE OLD PRIESTHOOD OR COVENANT CAN’T CLEANSE

(Hebrews 9:14 ESV)
“How much more will the blood of Christ,
Who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.”

This is what Hebrews 9 is about, where the author says, “how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blame to God purify our conscience, washed clean and save us from the defiling pain of our soul.

Today, it's an unpleasant subject. But it is such a liberating truth when we understand how in Jesus Christ, you and I can have clean conscience.

By the way, this is not easy! This cannot be done by anything else or anyone else but the blood of Jesus Christ. Only that! No earthly priest could do it. No ritual or rites could cleanse us on the inside; it could only clean outside, but not clean inside. And no animals and no blood of animals could cleanse us.

You say, “How do you know?” Because in Hebrews 9, the author very clearly states the old priesthood or the old covenant which we have studied a few weeks back could never cleanse us from sin, could never.

(Hebrews 9:9 ESV)
“According to this arrangement,
Gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect the conscience of the worshiper.”(Hebrews 9:9 ESV)

You say, “pastor, are you being a little bit too absolute, why then do they have all those animal sacrifices and rites and rituals?” I'm not being too absolute because the author is very bold, he says, “according to this arrangement, according to the old priesthood, the old covenant gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect, cannot heal the conscience of the worshiper.” It is impossible!

Then you say, “Why bother to give us the tabernacle, the animals, the priest?” There's a lot written about them by the way. People actually calculate that there are about 50 chapters written about the tabernacle and the priesthood. Contrast that with 2 chapters about creation. You know that there is a lot to be learned from the tabernacle, but, there's one thing the tabernacle and the priesthood in the old covenant can't do, it cannot cleanse anyone from their sins. They can't because they are only foreshadowings of the coming Christ. But why so much written about the tabernacle then, if it cannot cleanse us from our sin?

(Hebrews 9:1-5 ESV)
Now even the first covenant had regulations for worship
And an earthly place of holiness. For a tent was prepared, the first section, in which were the lampstand and the table and the bread of the Presence. It is called the Holy Place. Behind the second curtain was a second section called the Most Holy Place, having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, in which was a golden urn holding the manna, and Aaron's staff that budded, and the tablets of the covenant. Above it were the cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat. Of these things we cannot now speak in detail.

So let's look at what this tabernacle and what this old covenant is really about. The author helps us in verses 1 to 5, which I am not going to read, you can just have a quick glance. The author brings before us the centerpiece of the old covenant, the central focus of the old covenant; the central focus is on the tabernacle. Subsequently it's called the temple of God. But this is where the special dwelling place of God is. This is where religious activity and focus is centered upon. So you see him describing the tabernacle.

Now I'm not reading these words to you because you could read it and because I want to show you this picture. This is the central focus of worship for the Jews in the old covenant, it's a very simple picture. You would see that there is an outer fence and then this is the tabernacle proper, the tent proper. And you will see this altar that burns that consumes the animals, and then there's this little basin, this laver.

So this is the central focus, you see the whole of Israel during the days of wanderings were organized around the tabernacle, that's the center. This is not such a clear picture, but this gives you a feel of what it would be like. But this diagram will make it even clearer.

So imagine you flip it and you look at it from the top. You will see the tabernacle proper, the outer fence, the altar, we are talking about the laver and you might be familiar with all these and I'm not going to speak too much. We had a series on Exodus and you can find those sermons and look into the detail what these utensils and furniture pieces speak of.

(Hebrews 9:6 ESV)
These preparations having thus been made, the priests go regularly into the first section, performing their ritual duties.

The author is very “chop chop” [a phrase in Cantonese, which means hurry, hurry], Hebrews author. In chapter 9, he gives five verses, he assumes you know all these things and in verse six, he says these preparations having thus been made, the priests go regularly into the first section. This is the first section, performing their ritual duty. So, they will trim the lamp, change the bread, offer incense.

(Hebrews 9:7 ESV)
But into the second only the high priest goes, and he but once a year, and not without taking blood, which he offers for himself and for the unintentional sins of the people.

OK, that's what they regularly do, that's their job scope on an average day, but in verse seven, he jumps straight into the key day in the Jewish calendar. There's one special day, not Christmas for them. But the day of atonement and on this special day into the second compartment, the high priest goes. Notice the second compartment can only be entered in by one man, the whole world, not just the whole of Israel, in the whole world, there's only one man qualified to go in - the great high priest. And he goes in only one day a year and even when he wants to go in he has to go in with blood, sacrifices have to be made for himself and for the unintentional sins of the people. So the Hebrews author in seven verses tells you everything in a summary about the Old Testament worship.

Now, what's the point? What's his point? Why describe so much about this, why describe about the rituals what's the point?

(Hebrews 9:8-9 ESV)
By this the Holy Spirit indicates that the way into the holy places is not yet opened as long as the first section is still standing (which is symbolic for the present age). According to this arrangement, gifts and sacrifices are offered that cannot perfect the conscience of the worshiper.

The point is very simple. The Jews might have imagined- ah, this is the way for me to be saved. The author says the intention of God is to show you by the Holy Spirit, by this, the Holy Spirit indicates that the way into the holy places, this is the ultimate place, this. This box, this Ark of the Covenant speaks of the presence of God. For man to come near to God, the Holy Spirit is saying, not yet open, there are barriers, there are barriers, there are barriers. You can't come in, you can't come in and only one guy can come in once a year with blood. So the way is not yet open, that's the point that tabernacle is speaking about, no trespassing as long as the first section is still standing which is symbolic for the present age. Well, it speaks of something that Jesus will do in the future, so according to this arrangement all these gifts and sacrifices offered cannot perfect the conscience. After they offer, the way is still closed.

You say, “So what's the point?” The point is this, whilst the old covenant cannot cleanse anyone from their sin, it reminds people of their sin, it cannot remove sins but it is to remind you of your sins. Why? So that you are prepared, so that you are ready, so that you know that you really need Jesus Christ, God's Son. The animals can't save you, the priests can't save you, Jesus can and I want you to be reminded year after year, day by day you cannot do it, you're so hopeless, you're so helpless. Therefore, adore the coming Christ.

That's why when you sing Christmas carols, the carols speak of great joy, because if you could have done it, there's no great joy when Jesus comes.

The tabernacle is a visual reminder day-by-day, central focus of attention, we can't do it! No one can but Jesus Christ.

(Hebrews 10:3)
But in these sacrifices there is a reminder of sins every year.

So I jump ahead to Hebrews 10 where it says in these sacrifices, there is a reminder, not a removal but a reminder and it is so important because only then will we receive Jesus Christ.

THE GOOD NEWS IS ONLY GOOD NEWS WHEN YOU KNOW THE BAD NEWS

I want to give you a very key principle before we go on and it is this, the good news is only good news when you know the bad news, right?

Why would any piece of news be good until you know how bad life is? “Wah, this is Downtown line is opening soon, good news! But you only think it is good news if only you are staying in Bukit Panjang and you could not get to the city in time. After suffering for, suffering for many many years, downtown line now opens, wah you, rejoice because you know the bad news, you have lived through it. Now of course you magnify that by a gazillion times, you get to the gospel.

The gospel of Jesus Christ, God's grace giving His Son to die and to save you from your sins is great news when you know how hopeless and helpless you are. How do you know how hopeless and helpless you are? Look at the priests for thousands of years, they slaughter countless animals, shed gallons of blood, no one could have their conscience healed. But there comes Jesus.

THE NEW PRIESTHOD OR COVENANT CAN CLEANSE

In verse nine, it says the time of reformation where things are made straight and right again. Only Jesus could do it. Why is it that people won't come to Jesus? You know, we have such great news right. Have you, like the street evangelism team or in your own personal evangelism, you go out and share the gospel and people shake their heads and say, “I don't want to believe.” You know why?

I think one of the main reasons is because people don't know the bad news. Why do I need Jesus? Why do I need that religion called Christianity? I don't need it because I am healthy, I'm good, I have a good career, I have a good family. You see, they don't know the bad news they don't know that they are sinners in the eyes of a holy God who would judge them for their sins. So if they don't realize, they are not convicted about the bad news, no wonder they won't come to Jesus in the good news.

You see, that's what we learned in net casters, years ago. When you share the gospel, you … you share about the penalty of sin, on the problem of sin, the penalties of sin and the provision for sin in Jesus Christ, you share all that and when you come to the last part telling them about Jesus. They say, “I don't really understand, I don't really want to believe.” Where is the problem? The problem may not be in how you explain the work of Christ, but the problem may be that he has not understood he's a sinner. And that for his sins, he will be judged, and that he can't save himself.

The good news is only good news when you know the bad news. Preaching the gospel without telling people about sin is no gospel, it's just leading people to the Christian lifestyle. Oh, Christians are middle upper class people with a nice family. They do well in their careers, they are very “angmoh” [a hokkien phrase which means “red-haired” referring to white people], they speak very good English- that’s the kind of gospel we hear about.

My friends, I tell you that's not the gospel. The gospel is not about a better humanistic secular life. The gospel is a salvation message that saves us from the pits of fire in hell, that saves us from the holy wrath of God, that gives us that everlasting communion with God, which we have lost because of our sin. That is the good news.

You see, when Jesus appears, the Jews will love it, they will… I mean if … if they were humble, they would have rejoice, and indeed, many did because every year they are reminded of their own sinfulness.

The tabernacle is like a preacher, every day telling us about our sinfulness and our hopelessness and by the way, that's what John the Baptist did. I mean the Scriptures state the purpose and role of John the Baptist. What's his role, his role is to prepare the way, how to prepare the way - preach repentance.

When Jesus preached his message, his message is very clear - repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Now you will never come to the gospel until you see your sin and until you, see that you need to repent. So, the good news is really only good news when people know the bad news, about their sin and their inability to save themselves.

I think I want to apply this a little bit more practically, because I … I feel this almost on a daily basis in my life. What is this? This is not me but this is what I usually do. I have to discipline my kids, you know I sometimes feel I'm very “cheong hei” [a Cantonese phrase which means long-winded]. Maybe you have felt it in preaching already, but I.. I feel very “cheong hei” because every time when Shawn or Matthias does something wrong, I have to say, “do you know you're a sinner?”  I thought he might feel very depressed, everyday hear that he's a sinner. I mean most of the time when I was growing up, my parents say, “that is wrong, here you go.” I mean no need to talk so much, change your behavior, don't do this again, that's the way I was raised.

But now that I am a follower of Jesus Christ, I know that my main job is not to change his behavior. I say that again, my main job is not to change his behavior because he can, both of them can be raised as absolute good behaving moral kids but their hearts are away from God, that's not what I want.  God has given me a clear responsibility to shepherd them to Jesus Christ, to lead them to the gospel and that's why I have to be “cheong hei” every day, “you have sinned Shawn, that is a sin, Matthias, you are a sinner, you are naughty in your heart. That's why you need a new heart, kids. That's why Jesus came to save you from your sins.”

You know, everyday I'm repeating this message in different words of course, but the same thing. You are sinner, you are sinner, you are a sinner, you are a sinner. Of course I don't stop at saying you are a sinner. I tell them you're a sinner, but God loves you, so turn, repent, ask God to give you a new heart, to save your soul and so I realized that I am the tabernacle. So what do you mean? I am a visual reminder to my kids that they are sinners who need Jesus Christ; it's what I'm supposed to do.

Parents, don't just raise straight A’s children who get 285 in a PSLE. “how siao” [a Hokkien phrase which means not true] you say where got like that! Okay, okay, all right, not.. who .. raise 265 for their PSLE and who raise scholars in their homes. That's not what God calls you to do. God calls you to disciple your children to Jesus and you know your children will never want to come to Jesus until they see how rotten they are, how sinful they are, how helpless they are. So be that tabernacle in your family, remind them of their need for Christ.

So 50 chapters on the tabernacle, why? Well, the old priesthood or covenant cannot save anyone from their sins but it surely prepares someone for the new covenant, it's all prep work you see it's all necessary preparatory work so that when Jesus comes with the new priesthood, the new covenant, they can rejoice and rely on him for that cleansing.

(Hebrews 9:11-12 ESV)
But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and calves but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.

Now this becomes very simple because the author says, “when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, the good things the wonderful things that through the greater and more perfect tent not made with hands that is not of this creation, he entered once for all into the holy places, not by means of the blood of goats and cows, but by means of his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption.”

Quite a mouthful but in essence, Jesus Christ is the new high priest of a totally different kind. He's able to secure eternal redemption not like those Levitical Aaronic priests, not like those blood of animals that cannot cleanse, Jesus can with his own blood. You see a lot of religions today, they sacrifice the animals, they offer the food and so on, they could never save anyone from their sins. Only Jesus can and again, if you could read on, the highlighted words it's the blood of Christ that can purify, cleanse your conscience.

You say why? Because blood speaks of sacrifice, blood speaks of life that has been shed. Sinners die, the wages of sin is death, but there is death already paid not by lambs or calves, but by Jesus, God's eternal Son, so your conscience is cleansed when you know the value and worth of the life of Jesus Christ. The holy wrath of God for once is now appeased. Justice is done; sins debt is paid and so instead of hiding from God, now, you realize it is paid. Your conscience can be free because Jesus took it all, there's a fountain of blood drawn from Emmanuel's veins and sinners can plunge beneath that flood and lose all their guilty stains.

It’s the only solution that washes away sin, the blood of Jesus Christ and because of his finished work on the cross, the Bible tells us, we can now come in full assurance of faith because our hearts are sprinkled clean, our bodies are washed, it speaks of that purity, not just the penalty not just the power, but from the guilt and stain in our hearts.

So when you sin today, you can confess your sins and rely on the finished work of Jesus Christ. When Satan comes along and suggest to you, you are unworthy, you are dirty you say, “I looked not to my sin, but I looked to the Lamb.” And in this way in the book of revelations we overcome him, overcome Satan by the blood of the Lamb. There's no more guilt, no accusation against us because our Savior paid it all. You say, “I didn't pay,” no, but your Savior paid for you. You say, “God is still angry with me,” no, Jesus took that wrath. So today you can come to God in absolute confidence, clean conscience.

(Hebrews 9:13,14 ESV)

For if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

What do you do with a clean conscience? The author says “now, how much more with the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blame, blemish to God purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

(Hebrews 10:22 ESV)
Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.

If you really understand grace, if you really understand the gospel of Jesus Christ, you wouldn't say to yourself, “now I’m cleansed, I've this immunity from guilt, I can sin all I want.”  Oh no, you won’t, you won’t. You have such a new heart and you say, “I'm now cleansed and forgiven, I want to serve the living God. I want to live a holy life, I want to live purely for Jesus, I want to go make disciples, I want to serve him in the church, I want to serve him in the community, I want to give my life to serve the living God.  You will want to and may I say this, you can now, and only now, you can really serve the Living God.

(Hebrews 9:14 ESV)
How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.

You say why? Because before you know the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus Christ. You cannot serve God, you only serve yourself.  You say why? Because you're always trying to do something to earn some favour or to reduce your sin that so you may look like you are serving God before you are saved, but you are actually serving your self and trying to earn your way to salvation, that's why its called dead works, it can never work.

But when you come to the grace that is found in Jesus, you realize you're freely forgiven, out of that grateful heart you serve God. Now you truly love him because you realize he first loved you unconditionally, you now serve God. That's the power of Jesus Christ, to free us from the incurable disease of serving self to now giving our bodies, a living sacrifice unto him.

I started this day with Hayden Kho; here is another picture of him. A man who lived with pain and shame and guilt and who found no purpose and meaning in life, wanted to kill himself. But in 2013, things changed for Hayden Kho, he met with Ravi Zacharias. Can see him right? Ravi Zacharias, distinctive Indian gentleman with full head of white hair. This guy, who is he? Anybody knows? Someone in the worship team this morning already recognized. His name is … okay, you all never watch a lot of movies ... he is a Hollywood actor called Steve Bob Baldwin. You know, Alec Baldwin and so the Baldwin brothers, by the way he is a, he's a believer, he follows Ravi Zacharias on his tours.

So anyway, they met with Ravi Zacharias and this is what Ravi Zacharias said when he met with Hayden Kho, “tears were running down his face. He began by asking me what meaning can he find in life. That's his torment, he longed for hope and I told him God is the only one big enough to change a person's heart and begin anew. He shared with him the gospel and amazingly in 2013, just two years ago, Hayden Kho repented and believed in Jesus Christ. In fact, he was discipled by Ravi Zacharias and by Peter Tan-Chi in the Philippines.

In 2014, he went on to Oxford University to study apologetics, Christian apologetics. He learned from people like Os Guiness and John Lennox and when he came back he said, “God took away from me, the fame, the wealth, the influence and my ego, to help me realize that I don't need any of those things to be fulfilled or to have real meaning in my life, my testimony can be an endorsement of what Jesus Christ can do in a life like mine. I know I'm not yet the man I want to be, but I am thankful I'm no longer the man I used to be. Everything I do is from His heart. Everything I do I point it all back to God. Glory is all to God.”

Look at that! A man, who was grasping for meaning for himself, is now saying everything that I do and I am is to serve the living God. He is free, you know, he's freed from the prison of shame and guilt and pain, that's what the blood of Jesus Christ does. And when he was asked, “are you happy? He says “happy is an understatement, happiness is based on happenings, what I have now is joy, joy deep in my heart.”

My friends, this morning, you can have this clean conscience. You can walk with God and serve him because Jesus Christ came on Christmas to die for you.

Let's bow for a word of prayer together. There is a fountain filled with blood, drawn from Emmanuel's veins and sinners plunge beneath that flood and lose all their guilty stains.

Some of you today are guilt stricken, depressed, ashamed and maybe you ought to be because what you've done is really wrong. There's no hiding from that. But then again, you need not be. If you are willing to confess and trust and look to Jesus Christ. What you did wrong was done in His full sight, but when He went to the cross, He did it also with full sight, He took your sins and he wants to wash it all for you, this is the love of God, this is the goodness of God. Not that you're going to do anything deserving of it, but He freely forgives.

My friends, if you today are a Christian already, you have believed in Jesus Christ, I want your heart this morning to say, “I praise you, dear God for your amazing grace, it is so stunning and even if I have trusted you for many years, I'm still stunned.” This morning to be reminded of how rich and full and free, your forgiveness is.

Maybe, Satan today has been throwing abuses at you. Look at your life, look at how you can even call yourself a Christian, don't you know that your sufferings today are all because of your sins. Well all these have to be overcome by the blood of the lamb. Yes, I've sinned, but my Jesus has sacrificed, the wrath of God is appeased. I trust in Him.  I come boldly to the throne of grace this day in my need, in my desperation and say, “dear God help me.” And you know what I know my God will never cast me away because of Jesus Christ my Saviour, His son.

Maybe this morning, you need a re-commitment to Jesus to serve the living God. His grace in your life must not be in vain, folks. If grace is in your heart today you will say I want to serve, I want to give, be done away with that consumeristic Christianity, I'm here for myself. No, you are here for God, if you cannot say this in your heart, I say to you, maybe your heart has never been changed. This morning, you need to come to God and ask Him to change you, ask Him to save you, cry out to him, “Lord, I've been faking it, I don't have real life, I don't really love you, I've been putting up a front, but I know today is the day of salvation. Now, is the acceptable time, I repent, I humble myself, save me God.”  Cry out to Him, ask Him to do that in your life today, don't just come to church, come to Christ.

My friends, if God is working in your heart today, would you respond to him in prayer, in your soul, in your heart right now? Don't let sermons just be lectures. I mean, it is God speaking through his Word. Faith is not just knowing, faith is responding in obedience. Would you do that right now?

Father, we thank you this morning, amazing salvation that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sins. That word that we could never get rid off by ourselves, the blood of Jesus cleanses it all.  Our hearts are lifted up towards you today and we praise you and thank you for the amazing good news of the grace of Jesus Christ. Oh God, would you work in hearts today that men and women, young and old would truly repent and find salvation in your Son and we pray that for Christians, we will live a life of worship, to serve a living God. Do it here, dear Lord, in this church, that you may be glorified through us and may this gospel of grace lead to the supreme glory of our God. We pray this in Jesus Name, Amen!
