Firm Amidst Falsehoods [2 Peter 1:1-2]

Overview

Arriving safely home in God’s Kingdom matters. That is why Peter wrote to strengthen believers to remain unshaken in faith. While 1 Peter calls Christians to “Holiness in Hostility,” 2 Peter urges them to stand “Firm Amidst Falsehoods. ” Peter begins by reminding believers of their precious faith, received through the righteousness of Jesus Christ, and the grace and peace God multiplies to sustain them. Such blessings must never lead to complacency. Throughout his letter, Peter calls Christians to GROW in the grace and knowledge of Jesus, GROUND themselves in God’s sure Word, and GUARD against false teachers and their teachings. His message remains urgent: cherish your faith, stand firm in truth, and persevere until you arrive safely home with Christ.
